People Perish for a Lack of Knowledge...

Out of the Boat aims to change that.

We believe that Jesus is the only way to heaven. (John 14:6-7)

We believe that He was born of a virgin; voluntarily gave Himself as a sacrifice on the cross; was bodily raised from the grave; ascended to heaven and now intercedes on behalf of believers. (Luke 1:27; Heb.7:27; 1Cor. 15:4, 20; Rom. 8:34)

We believe every person is a sinner, needing to repent of their sin and depend on the grace of God for salvation. We believe that one's salvation is a result of believing and receiving, not doing. (Romans 3:25; Eph. 2:8-9)

We believe that once one receives God's gift of salvation, it is forever possessed & can never be lost. (Romans 8:38-39; John 10:27-29)

We believe that the Bible is inspired as men "were moved by the Holy Spirit." (2 Peter1:21). The Bible is the inerrant, perfect Word of God and is the guide for holy living and the source of perfect truth. (2 Tim. 2:15; 3:16-17)

We believe that the body of Christ is made up of all people "baptized by one Spirit" who have believed in the Lord Jesus. Those making up the body have been supernaturally gifted (1 Cor. 12:4, 13) to serve the Lord.

We believe Jesus is preparing a heavenly home for each believer and that Jesus will return in the air to "rapture" the church and will later return bodily to earth to set up an earthly kingdom. (John 14:2-3; 1 Thess. 4:14-17; Matt. 24:29-30; Rev. 20:4)

We believe that as we abide in Christ (John 15) He gives us not only victory from the penalty of our sin, but power to overcome sin itself. We are more than conquerors through Jesus! (Romans 6:6,11; 8:1-2, 37)

Out of the Boat Ministries is committed to taking the gospel of Jesus Christ where it has never gone before.  While some of the teaching ministry that Tollie accomplishes involves strengthening and challenging Christ followers and encouraging the body of Christ in regions of the world that already have a viable witness, her passion is also to take the life-saving gospel into areas that have not yet been reached.

While the world has approximately 200 nations, there are thousands of people groups living within those defined borders.  A people group is a significantly large grouping of individuals who perceive themselves to have a common affinity with one another. A people group calls “us, us” and “them, them” by distinguishing insiders and outsiders. Christians often say that the task of the Great Commission is to take the gospel to all nations.  What we fail to realize is that in the Bible, the Greek word that often is translated as nations, “ethne,” really means ethnic groups or people groups.

"For evangelization purposes, a people group is the largest group within which the Gospel can spread as a church planting movement without encountering barriers of understanding or acceptance." (Source: 1982 Lausanne Committee Chicago meeting)

An unreached or least-reached people is a people group among which there is no indigenous community of believing Christians with adequate numbers and resources to evangelize this people group without outside assistance. Most missiologists consider 2% of the population becoming Christ followers as the “tipping point” at which the group is generally considered “reached” with the Gospel. Out of the Boat Ministries is committed to mobilizing the church into the areas of the world where these still unreached peoples are living in hopelessness apart from even the knowledge that Jesus Christ has come. To continue to pour man power and resources into regions that are evangelized, while thousands of people are virtually ignored, seems misguided and unfair.  Out of the Boat Ministries is committed to reaching the unreached.

I was invited to attend OOTB Bible study for the first time about 11-12 years ago.  I have been a huge fan ever since. Tollie Meggs has dedicated herself to studying and teaching the Word of God.  This is not just a “3-nice points and a poem” kind of Bible study.  Tollie is a gifted and authentic Bible teacher who challenges Christians to walk by faith in their daily lives.  If you want to dig into the meat of God’s word and allow it to change your heart and enrich your life, then you need to visit OOTB and get involved in the many opportunities to learn, grow and serve. When I think of OOTB – I think of solid Biblical teaching for the everyday Christian.

There is simply no teacher I have ever heard who approaches the Word of God as she does. Tollie Meggs was an answer to years of prayer for a teacher to instruct me how to study the bible and then to be able to apply its truths. She brings an intense but joyful passion for teaching the Bible whether it's to a small group of women or to an auditorium full of hungry hearts. Thank you, Tollie, for answering God's clear call on your life both at home and abroad. And praise be to Jesus that the women of Tuscaloosa have the opportunity to be exposed to her extraordinary gift. To God be the glory!

You cannot find a stronger Christ follower, a better Bible teacher or a more passionate soul winner than Tollie Meggs. Absolutely amazing how Tollie can make God's Word so alive and simple that anyone can understand how we humans strayed, and Jesus paid. I have heard Tollie proclaim the Gospel many times. You can search the world over and find no better speaker/teacher.
